Meet the Friends of the Forgotten woodlands
A dedicated volunteer group of scientists, natural resource managers, farmers, teachers and community members dedicated to rebuilding numbers of Banksia, Sheoak and Bursaria on the volcanic lakes and plains just north of the coast.
Follow their journey and get involved as they propagate, plant monitor seed provenance and planting success and fund research to protect genetic diversity ensure these keystone species remain locally viable into the future. From innovative scientific progression and hard graft, to analysing the artistic works of Austrian painter Eugene Von Guerard to identify historic provenance of key species, this work of this group is one worth following.
