An explosive history and a never-failing spring with a village feel. Penshurst is the perfect blend of charm and fascination. Cosied up beside the now dormant volcano of Mount Rouse, the town is reminiscent of yesteryear.
Hosted within an historic bluestone building, the Volcanoes Discovery Centre has a captivating display on volcanoes from Western Victoria and the world. Explore this volcanic field through video, information and volcanic rock displays.
Hike Mount Rouse and walk along the dry crater of this extinct volcano. Allow yourself time to take in the views of our Volcanic Lakes and Plains, Mount Eccles, Mount Napier and not too distant Grampians view of Mount Sturgeon, from its peak.
These lush gardens are set on 13 acres of natural wetland. Here you will find an impressive collection of plants and flowers and a spring that feeds into the lake.
Yatmerone Wildlife Reserve is located to the west of Penshurst and provides visitors with a unique opportunity to observe the abundant native flora and fauna that takes refuge in these wetlands. The reserve is fed by a natural spring and a trail runs along the edge of the reserve that allows for photo opportunities galore.
